WSSA – JAPAN POWDER CAMP REVIEW & VLOG – FURANO 2019
At the end of January 2019, the Academy team embarked upon our annual long haul adventure to the other side of the planet to what is quite simply one of the most magical places you could ever wish to ski. Japan has been an Academy course location for the past 10 years and based on it’s continued popularity we’re sure we’ll be going there for 10 more!
This year we returned to the Resort of Furano in central Hokkaido. Acres of pristine conditions between the iconic silver birch trees awaited our course members who came from all over the world to sample the goods and receive some focussed Academy powder technique coaching.
Spread between 6 groups our 42 academy members consisted of seasoned powder slayers who wished to push their limits amongst the more challenging terrain, to less experienced skiers who required a more gentle introduction into how to ski deep powder snow.
That really is the beauty of this place and the reason it’s worth travelling all this way. There is something for everyone!
To top it off, the town offers people the chance to sample a very traditional Japanese experience. Incredible food was sampled each evening in the resorts array of fine restaurants and a few beers (and Sake) were enjoyed along the way!
