Page 1 of 2Next

Hi All, I'm planning to fly from London Standsted into Turin on Sat 23rd Nov, coming home Saturday 30th Nov.  Flight times below.  Is anyone interested in sharing a hire car?  I'm happy to drive or share the driving.  I'll be staying in town.

Hi Maire

I was going to do the ski course 10 Nov but it is now cancelled. My next preference is 1-6 Dec, but there might be a possibility of doing the 24-29 Nov.

Have you booked this course now? I could be interested in sharing the transfer. Are you staying at the Mon Reve?

Regards

Anne

Hi Anne

I have booked the 24th Nov but there were no rooms left at the Mon Reve so I'm staying in town.  I went a few years ago and stayed in town which worked out great.  Let me know if you're interested in sharing a transfer, there's no rush as I'll be booking a car anyway.  In fact, I need to do it actually!

Hi Maire

Yes I would be happy to share in hiring a car but I'm not sure that I would be confident enough to drive in Italy especially when we arrive which will also be dark by the time we get through the airport. Are you ok to do the driving? I had a quick look and it seems quite cheap to hire a car for a week. Let me know how much it will be.

I heard from Mon Reve yesterday that they have a room available from 23 to 30 Nov so I will book it. Do you want to share it with me (I assume  you're female too) or are you fixed with your accommodation in town?

Sorry Maire, I realised that that came over as weird. Hadn't meant it like that. Forget I ever said it.

Anne

Hi Anne

I'm happy to drive so don't worry about that as long as you don't mind me taking my time on the winding mountain road!. It will be nice to have some company because as you say it will be dark.  I looked at other options to get there in the daylight but they didn't work for me.  We'll just take it easy.  I guess you're taking the same flight as me too?  That was good getting a room at the Mon Reve, one didn't come up in time for me so I had to firm book my accommodation in town.

Hire cars - I need to do further research. They are really cheap but looking at some of the reviews of the companies, we need to be careful as they're charging people after drop off for scratches etc that they didn't do.  Are you bringing your own skis etc?  I'll look this weekend and book something accordingly and let you know how much it costs.

Hi Maire

Thanks for offering to drive. More than happy to take it cautiously.

I'm just about to book flights from Stansted. They will be the same as yours.

I don't have skis, but will have a large suitcase. Thanks for looking into the hire car situation.

Hi Maire

I had a look on Which (consumer mag) to see what it recommends for car hire. It highly recommends using a broker called Zest who vet and monitor regularly all its local hire car suppliers. It gets a very high consumer rating for satisfaction. I can have a look at it tomorrow if you like?

regards

Anne

All booked Anne - we can discuss further via email if you like. maire99@hotmail.com.  On Saturday 30th Nov, I won't be skiing in the morning. I plan to spend some time in Turin before going to the airport in the afternoon.

This topic brings back memories of planning my own trips to the slopes! Turin to Cervinia is such a beautiful route, and sharing a transfer sounds like a fun and cost-effective option, especially if you’re traveling solo or in a small group. I remember juggling my schedule to make everything fit, and honestly, it was a bit overwhelming at times. During those moments, I found myself looking for ways to simplify other aspects of my life, like schoolwork. That’s when I came across the option to buy nursing essays online—it saved me so much time and stress. Sometimes, finding those little shortcuts can make all the difference, don’t you think?
